Full Text Search Highlights Are Not Displayed After a Document Has Been Edited

Technote Number: 1089485

Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR#OBN49XGZK; however, it
was determined not to be a software problem.

This is the way highlighting works. Editing a document causes the document to
become out of sync with the Full Text Index. Searching still works on this
document; however, the highlighting does not display (on this document only)
until the index is updated. A message is sent to the status bar telling the
user that "Highlights are not available..." (In R5, it tells you that the
document had been edited).

Supporting Information:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Full text index a database with Update frequency set to Immediate.
2. Perform a search that returns one document.
3. Open it, find words highlighted as expected, and edit and save this
document.
4. Reset search results.
5. Perform another full text search, using the same search criteria as before.
6. The search returns the same document.
7. Open this document and find that the word that you searched for is no
longer highlighted.
8. Now update the index (UPDALL) and do another search using the same
criteria. The highlights have returned.
